Vigilantes in Merstham, Surrey!
Clad in balaclavas with one waving a machete, these are the self-styled vigilantes patrolling the streets of their Surrey 'stockbroker belt' village to make locals feel 'safer'.

Police hunted down the leader of the vigilantes - calling themselves the 'Merstham Justice Squad' - after the photo appeared in a local paper causing him alarm.

The formation of the merstham vigilantes follows two incidents in which young women were chased in Merstham and Redhill on December 30.

A a 19-year-old girl was also raped in Redhill last May. No-one has been arrested in connection to the attacks

The group also claims to be offering reward money for information about the incidents from members of the community.

A spokesman, who refused to be identified, said: 'It's time for the community to stand up for itself and do something.

'This area [Merstham] has really gone downhill in the last year and we feel we need to sort out the problems ourselves.'

He added: 'We want to do right and not wrong. We are happy to work with the police to help catch whoever is chasing women.'

The vigilantes said they would interrogate any suspects they 'caught in the act' in kangaroo courts and hand down their own punishment if they found them guilty.

One member said: 'It's the older guys who will make up the panel who judge anyone we catch.

They are sensible, law-abiding people and they will be fair."

But Surrey's Divisional Commander Chief Superintendent Adrian Harper was so concerned he had the leader tracked down and called him in for a face-to-face meeting.

He said: 'It is my responsibility, and that of my many officers, to ensure those who live in East Surrey are safe and feel safe and I cannot emphasise enough how irresponsible it is for people to take the law into their own hands.

'I will deal robustly with anyone who does resort to vigilantism and targets who they believe may be responsible for these incidents.

'Often 'justice' groups target the wrong person and an innocent member of the community is seriously injured, something which is neither just nor fair.'

But of course neither is it "just or fair" when decent people have to resort to vigilantism because of New Labour's "protect-a-thug" mentality!

Nor is it "just or fair" that many police forces prefer chasing those who stand up to the thugs rather than dealing with the thugs properly!

Until we get REAL justice for REAL crimes and end the criminalisation of ordinary people, actions like this will simply increase !

And when Chief Superintendent Adrian Harper says : "It is my responsibility, and that of my many officers, to ensure those who live in East Surrey are safe and feel safe" perhaps he should ask himself "why are we failing so badly" and why do people feel so unsafe that they have to form a vigilante group to protect themselves?

And when he says "how irresponsible it is for people to take the law into their own hands," perhaps he should ask himself "What Law"?

A law which prosecutes decent people for protecting themselves?

People like Stephan Toth who was convicted of "assault" after protecting his sick wife from a yob shouting abuse at her - And was told by the magistrate thet next time such an incident occurred he should simply "walk away"!

Or retired police officer Paul Lawson, who was arrested and thrown in a cell after being attacked by thugs!

Or Steve Kink, registered disabled, who was charged with assault after he caught a thug breaking into a mobile phone shop late at night!

Or thousands of others every year who suffer from the same "protect-a-thug" mentality!

Is that what Chief Superintendent Adrian Harper calls "the law"?

Ministers today released the postcodes of residential streets where thousands of criminals are being held in bail hostels.

The Ministry of Justice has been repeatedly criticised for paying private firm ClearSprings millions to house the convicts on early release and suspects awaiting trial in residential homes to ease prison overcrowding.

They are free to come and go with only limited supervision.

Neighbours are only told about the hostels by letter once they have been given the go-ahead and many in nearby streets do not realise they are there.

But, following pressure to reveal the locations, the Government has published a list of postcode areas, but stopped short of revealing precise street names.

The probation officers' union Napo said there were 'minimal' checks on those staying in the hostels and called for closer supervision of their behaviour.

How can I help my son if the police won't ?
This is another story from our forum, and shows what decent people are having to put up with daily:

"My son has coordination problems and is trying to make a life with his wife.

He holds down a full time job on government minimum.

On the estate where he lives are 2 yobs age 18 and a gang of younger slobs.

These youths have attacked my son on 2 occasions and been abusive to his wife on numerous occasions.

They have damaged 3 body panels on his car, damaged two tyres, then tonight bent the door open to try to get in.

Six weeks ago he was attacked by them and the police were too busy to come out.

I am not making excuses for myself, but I went down with a baseball bat and hit one of the cretins.

The police were called and they were there in 5 minutes, by the way these two characters are well known to all of the authorities involved with policing and anti social behavior.

All the police were interested in was warning me that my actions would land me in very serious trouble if I was summonsed.

Has anyone any advice on how I can help my son ?

Every day in Britain thousands of decent honest people live in fear of yobs who have become "untouchable", thanks to New Labour's "protect-a-thug" mentality.

The catastrophic results of New Labour's insane immigration debacle - it certainly cannot be called a policy - is now so obvious to everyone that even the MPs who have denied for years that there even was a problem are now being forced to face the truth - the uncontrolled immigration they all supported is a total and absolute disaster!

And when it comes to crime that uncontrolled immigration has led to a situation where the government's feeble attempts to bring it under control are being overwhelmed by the very immigration they have for so long claimed was good for the country.

Their open door policy has become a welcome mat for vast numbers of criminals who have flooded here in their tens of thousands!

In London alone, 20% of all crimes is now committed by foreign nationals, placing an intolerable burden on a police force which already spends over 40% of its time filling in government forms!

And all over the country police forces are struggling to cope with a vast expansion of foreign crime - from people smuggling for enforced prostitution, to drug smuggling, to cannabis factories, to theft, fraud, armed assaults - the list, like immigration, is endless!

All police forces are complaining that the extra burden of providing interpreters for people who cannot - or will not - speak English is already causing them problems because the government will not supply them with the extra money they need to meet the extra demands.

We have over 15,000 foreign prisoners in our jails - criminals who, thanks to the Human Rights Act, we cannot deport!

The cost of keeping these foreign criminals in jail now runs into BILLIONS of pounds - all courtesy of New Labour!

And because of the lack of prison accomodation prisoners are having to be housed in court and police cells costing extra millions every year - millions which could go to recruiting more police or building extra prisons.

But it doesn't stop there!

Because of overcrowded prisons dangerous criminals are being put in open jails without adequate security - and hundreds are simply walking out - again costing vast amounts of extra cash and tying up more police time.

And we haven't even begun to discuss the cost of implementing the Human Rights Act which is responsible for wasting further BILLIONS every year and has made it virtually impossible to deport a single foreign immigrant, even illegal ones.

So, at a time when we need a vast increase in police, court time, and prison accommodation because of vast numbers of foreign criminals flooding into this country, it is precisely because of these vast numbers of immigrants which means the money for these vital measures will NEVER be found and the problem will get worse and worse!

And all of this because of New Labour's insane immigration "policy" - the word "catastrophe" is hardly adequate!

It turns out that 18 police forces across the country have been under-reporting the amount of serious violent crime for anything up to TEN YEARS!

The undercounting came to light last October when quarterly crime figures for the 43 forces in England and Wales were published.

It saw the number of serious violent crimes jump by 22 PERCENT on the previous year !

Dr Marian FitzGerald, a criminologist at the University of Kent, told the BBC there had been some confusion over how to collate crime data for a number of years.

But she said: "The government itself had been in serious denial for a very long time about the fact THE UNDERLYING LEVEL OF SERIOUS VIOLENT CRIME IN THIS COUNTRY HAD BEEN GOING UP STEADILY BUT INCREASINGLY SINCE THE EARLY 90's" !

The result, she said, has made interpreting crime figures like "trying to read tea leaves".

British Transport Police Chief Constable Ian Johnston told the BBC accurate crime figures were essential both for effective police work and public confidence.

"Our fundamental point is that we do want as accurate data as we can get," he said.

The government has admitted it did not know how long the undercounting had been going on.

Violent crime is one the public's biggest worries and one of the government's major priorities, and the under-recording was a major embarrassment to Labour."

Yet Labour ministers were still claiming that the overall amount of violent crime had not been affected and the revised figures showed overall crime and overall violent crime remained down on the previous year - even though the revised figures actually showed an INCREASE OF 22 PERCENT!

Romanian immigrant Ali Majlat brutally raped a young woman on a railway station so he could be sent to prison for a bed, food and English lessons at the same jail as his brother!

Ali Majlat, who has a string of convictions in his home country and the UK, punched, kicked and dragged his 21-year-old victim along the ground as she waited for a train home after seeing friends.

She briefly escaped his clutches but he caught up with her in an underpass at Wakefield Kirkgate station in West Yorkshire and subjected her to a sustained attack which was captured on CCTV.

He then stole her mobile phone, purse and a bracelet before fleeing.

When he was caught five days later he admitted his guilt and claimed he did it so he would end up in jail.

‘When I was on the railway station I thought I should rape this lady in order to get a place to eat and sleep and learn the English language,’ he told a psychologist.

Majlat, who is on remand in Leeds prison, entered the UK shortly after being released from a Romanian jail last June after serving time for theft and attempted robbery.

In September he was jailed for eight weeks by Horseferry Road magistrates in London for burglary. But he was not deported after being freed because he was not deemed "high risk"!

Convicts from the European Economic Area - members of the EU, plus Norway, Iceland, Liechtenstein and Switzerland - can be removed only if they are highly likely to reoffend and if they present a ‘sufficiently serious threat’.

"When a policeman called at Bob Singh's shop to offer him some advice on his jokes, he thought someone was having a laugh.

But the smile was wiped off his face when the officer told him there had been a complaint about the gags he prints on leaflets advertising his corner shop's Christmas offers.

Even though the leaflets have amused customers for more than a decade, police said they could offend people and warned the shopkeeper that he could face prosecution for a public order offence.

Now Mr Singh, 36, has been forced to withdraw all his humorous leaflets advertising seasonal discounts at his Landmark store in Port Talbot, South Wales.

He said: 'I couldn't believe my ears. I thought they were joking - but they were deadly serious. This proves the world has gone completely crazy. Why are the police getting involved in something like this?

'The bizarre thing is that they wouldn't tell me which jokes were offensive, what was offensive or who had complained about them."

Here's one of the jokes the police farce found so incredibly offensive that they threatened Bob Singh with prosecution:

From now on anyone refusing to tell state officials their identity could end up in jail!

State officials are to be given powers to demand any person's proof of identity at any time and anyone refusing could face arrest and a possible prison sentence!

They are presented as a crackdown on illegal immigration, but lawyers say they could be applied to anybody who has ever been outside the UK, even on holiday!

The civil rights group Liberty, which analysed clauses from the new Immigration and Citizenship Bill, called them an attempt to introduce compulsory ID cards by the back door.

The move would effectively take Britain back to the Second World War, when people were stopped and asked to 'show their papers'.

During the Second World War, ID cards were seen as a way of protecting the nation from Nazi spies.

Tory spokesman Damian Green, recently arrested by the police after he leaked documents embarrassing to New Labour, said: "This scheme will do nothing to improve our security, may make it worse, and will certainly land the taxpayer with a multi-million bill.

Labour should concentrate on things that will improve our security, like a dedicated border police force."

However this bill has nothing to do with improving security or catching illegal immigrants and everything to do with enabling anyone employed by the state, even council workers, to criminalise ordinary British citizens by demanding their identity at any time they wish and for no reason at all!

And if they cannot produce a "valid identity document" they can be immediately arrested by "state officials" and carted off to jail or at best escape with just a fine and a criminal record!

Yobs getting ever closer - pretty scared now.

Yobs getting ever closer
I moved into a top floor flat about 3 years ago (there are only 2 floors). When I signed the lease, along with my partner, we were told it was a lovely quiet place and there have never been any problems.

Fast forward to today, after already having the bathroom window shot at with an airgun (ruining the double glazing), having yobs kick in the main entrance door on several occasions, they are now coming in and taking things from outside peoples front doors.

I had a £600 mountain bike locked to my partners £150 bike and through a railing, inside the building and well out of view of the street.

Today I heard a clang, opened my front door to see 2 hooded yobs riding away on our bikes. The police only gave me a crime reference number and thats the end of that.

But now my partner is terrified (I'm worried too), that they will take the next step and kick in our front door to either rob us or hurt us.

What are people supposed to do in this situation? As nice as some police officers can be, the yobs are well gone by the time they arrive.

The thieving is upsetting yes, but I fear much worse!

This is not a story from a newspaper but a post from just ONE of our members on the Navigor Forum.

Paedophiles escape justice!
Paedophiles and rapists are escaping justice with a police caution instead of going to jail!

Shock figures from the Ministry of Justice revealed that last year 2000 sex offenders - including rapists and paedophiles - escaped with a police caution instead of a jail sentence!

Burglary - a "minor" crime!
This included 30 people guilty of rape - four attempted rapes, nearly 300 who admitted underage sex and 6 guilty of child prostitution or child pornography!

The report revealed that overall the number of convicts escaping with a caution was up four per cent, to 362,900!

Other criminals to escape with cautions, which New Labour has always claimed is reserved for minor crimes, last year included almost 7,000 burglars, 614 robbers, and 72,789 people convicted of theft or handling stolen goods!

This is a massive 28 per cent leap since Labour came to power in 1997, and shows just how their so-called "soft" justice has betrayed decent people who find themselves increasingly at the mercy of the scum New Labour allows to roam the streets laughing at the whole legal system!

Earlier this year it was revealed that under Home Office guidelines, anyone caught committing the same "trivial" offence again can be let off with the equivalent of a slap on the wrist, providing two years have passed, which means a thief can now receive up to five cautions in ten years without ever having to face a court appearance.

It was also revealed that police had been instructed to give some serial criminals a string of cautions rather than drag them to court, which perhaps explains why, more and more, they can't be bothered even turning up to investigate many crimes!

So, New Labour now regards rape, burglary, robbery, theft, child prostitution, child pornography and sexual assaults on young children as "minor" offences, to be dealt with by a caution rather than a jail sentence!

And this contempt, especially for rape victims, was shown by a Ministry of Justice spokesman who said: 'Although there is a high percentage increase of rape cautions, the number of cases actually remains very small (52 in the last two years)

So much for "Tough on crime, tough on the causes of crime"!

Thief Mark Gilbert, paraded through the streets by his boss, gets off with a caution - but his boss faces charges!

Self-confessed thief Mark Gilbert, 39, stole a cheque from the flooring firm where he worked and cashed it for holiday spending money.

But when his boss Simon Cremer discovered the theft he and three other workers bound Mr Gilbert's hands and marched him through a town centre to a police station wearing a sign which said: "THIEF I stole £845, am on my way to police station".

Now it is Mr Cremer who faces sharges while Mark Gilbert, the thief, has got off with a police caution - and is planning to sue his former boss for "humiliation and upset" after being disowned by his family!

Simon Cremer was stunned after learning he would be the one who was arrested and said he could not believe he may face charges while his former employee received a caution.

"It's terrible. This is a guy who is a proven thief, he stole a cheque, forged a signature and took money by deception, surely there's enough to charge him there but no, he's been let off with a caution, I will sue him, I'm not going to take this, if you steal from someone it's criminal."

Mr Cremer, from Little Maplestead, Essex, said he would do the same thing all over again, especially given Mr Gilbert's caution.

"I don't regret my action, the fact I tied his hands is the only bit I regret, as time has dragged on I have been worried about what will happen to me, it has been weighing on my mind.

It's ironic that he's the thief and he's got off and I've still got this worry hanging over me."

Mark Gilbert says that even he was surprised when his boss was arrested: "They frogmarched me to the police station. I was so relieved. They (police) took me round the back and said "You've got a bigger case against them...I thought "hang on I'm the criminal here."

And that just about says it all where the REAL priorities of the police are concerned!

As far as they're concerned only criminals are to be helped while decent people are to be criminalised - they don't realise that that is the attitude which makes decent people like Simon Cremer take the law into their own hands - because the law has betrayed them so much it's all they have left!

The number of people admitted to hospital with stab injuries has shot up by nearly a third since Labour came to power and at one hospital, the number of seriously injured stab victims has more than quadrupled in the last five years!

And in evidence to the Home Affairs Select Committee, Professor Karim Brohi, a trauma surgeon at Barts and the London NHS Trust, said much of the increase was due to territorial teenage gangs linked to schools or postcode areas.

And between 2003 and 2006 admittances for serious knife injuries went up from 68 to 258 and this year it is expected to hit 278, and in teenagers under 20 the numbers increased from 9 in 2003 to 71 this year!

Mr Brohi told MPs that more than half of the stabbings he saw were clearly intended to be fatal, with attackers aiming at or hitting the victim's head or chest!

Dr Bob Golding, former assistant chief constable of Warwickshire Police, told the committee that police chiefs told him there were gangs in every major town and that "People escalate in the current gang climate to extreme violence much quicker than was hitherto the case."

Shadow home secretary Dominic Grieve said: "The Government must answer our call for a presumption of imprisonment for knife possession, and greater powers for stop and search in hotspot areas."

But there's no chance of that happening since, while more than 2,500 people have been stabbed to death in the years since Labour came to power, only nine of the countless criminals caught with knives have been given the maximum jail term!

In 2006 some 1,226 under-18s were found guilty of carrying a blade yet only 72 were put behind bars with the typical offender spending just eight weeks in jail while the remainder escaped with a fine, a community sentence or - in 113 cases - a discharge. Only one of the 7,817 knife offenders of all ages received the maximum sentence!

And it is no wonder that "people escalate...to extreme violence much quicker than was hitherto the case" - simply because they have no concern, repect or fear of such pathetic sentences!

Prison officers at top security Whitemoor jail spent £3,500 on takeaway curries for 150 Muslim inmates!

The curries were laid on to celebrate Eid, the end of the Ramadan month of fasting, and the prison officers drove 40 miles to get the curries after Muslim prisoners complained about their food.

According to the Sun newspaper, more than 150 prisoners and 50 staff feasted on the beef madras and lamb rogan josh meals, worth £18 each, from the Roti Food Bar in Peterborough, Cambridgeshire and they were not inspected for weapons on the way in in case they got cold!

An ex-inmate at Whitemoor told the Sun that prison chefs tried to make the curries in-house, but failed to meet the budget of £1.80 per prisoner, but that they then decided to pay £18 per meal beggars belief!

A Prison Service spokesperson said: "Such high costs for food are not acceptable and an investigation is under way.One of the key challenges facing Whitemoor prison is the need to improve cultural understanding between staff and prisoners, a third of whom are Muslim. But ... food costs must be reasonable."

Last month, an official report revealed that staff were leaving Islamic terrorists and other Muslim prisoners at the jail to "police themselves."

Prison inspectors said that religious extremists, including al Qaeda members, were forcibly recruiting other inmates of the prison into their gangs, and that staff did not know how to "challenge inappropriate behaviour".

At the time of the inspection, only eight inmates were convicted terrorists, but the spread of Islamic extremism in the jail had become a major issue, with Whitemoor failing to cope with "increased risk" from gangs.

To read that prison authorities could ever abdicated their responsibilities in this manner and that prison staff would allow dangerous terrorists to "police themselves" is unbelievable and terrifying!

And to claim that staff did not know how to "challenge inappropriate behaviour" simply means that they were too scared of being called "racist" to dare stand up to Islamic terrorists, no matter what threat they pose to the public and other inmates!

When Denise Chapman chased her stolen horse trailer across three counties phoning the police all the way - they didn't bother to do anything!

The £4,500 trailer was followed by friends of Denise Chapman, while she gave police minute-by-minute updates of its location so officers could intervene.

Even though the police knew exactly where the stolen horse trailer was from the moment it was taken until it disappeared inside a travellers camp, they never showed up - while the trailer travelled across three counties in a pursuit that lasted for more than an hour!

Denise Chapman described the failure of police to react as "an absolute farce"..."We did everything we could possibly do. We followed them every step of the way and even had a full description of the van which towed the trailer away, and its registration number...we handed it to them on a plate and they still couldn't manage to do anything"!

The trailer was driven east into Kent before heading through the Dartford Tunnel-to Essex. Surrey Police notified each force as it entered their area but once it reached the travellers' site in Basildon the friend, who asked not to be identified, dared go no further.

Miss Chapman said: "Essex Police suggested that I go to the site and contact them when I'd located the trailer and they would then meet me there...I am a mother of five-year-old twins who I'd have to have taken with me. To expect me to go unassisted to a gipsy site on a dark night beggars belief"!

Miss Chapman has made an official complaint. Both Essex and Surrey Police said they were investigating the matter.

But of course nothing will happen to them - after all if the police force is happy to employ convicted criminals it certainly isn't going to be worried by the lazy and moronically incometent!

A boy of 13, thought to be the youngest child ever arrested by London police for having a gun, has pleaded guilty to possession of a firearm, silencer and ammunition.

The boy, who is too young to be named, was arrested in August after officers raided his family's house as part of an investigation into south London gangs.

He admitted possessing a Russian Baikal pistol, two silencers and 31 cartridges at his home in Lewisham.

Judge Usha Karu granted the boy bail with certain conditions, including a curfew, but said that 'custody is almost inevitable' on sentencing.

The boy's barrister, Rhodri James, said the youngster's mother thought he would benefit from a psychiatric report.

Mr James said: 'His mother is concerned he, at times, displays odd character traits in terms of whether he is being watched.'

So far this year, 28 teenagers have died violently on the streets of London amid growing concern about gang crime.

While official figures indicate that violent incidents are falling, criminologists note the age of the victims and offenders is also falling.

In the unprovoked attack David Willis was punched in the mouth, verbally abused and then hit with a broken bottle which left him with injuries needing 37 stitches, just because he refused to buy the boy beer and cigarettes!

Jason Beal, defending, said the boy had suffered neglect from birth and an utter absence of any form of meaningful control from the days he could walk and his parents were violent offenders and drug addicts.

"From the age of three, he was wandering around the streets uncared for." He said the defendant’s siblings had followed the same route as their parents.

The victim, mechanic David Willis said: ‘I can’t remember a lot of it. It was a shock that someone that young could do that. For some time afterwards I didn’t feel safe outside my own home. I’ve had a lot of trouble sleeping and still get a lot of pain in my ear."

So another persistant offender is allowed to commit crime after crime, learning that the law will not attempt to curb his feral behaviour until he finally attacks someone so viciously that he ends up in court - and what is the sentence this feral youth got - nine months in detention and nine months being trained in custody - what a farce since he can expect to be out in half that time!

Mark Frearson was out shopping with his son Harry when the little boy wandered off and it was only after a ten minute search that he was found outside in a nearby park.

Three hours later at around 9pm, four police officers and a specialist child support officer arrived at his house, saying a witness had reported Mr Frearson for "assault", took Harry away in a police car, arrested Mark on suspicion of assault and locked him in a cell.

After about an hour he said officers told him they could not carry out an interview as the witness "was not in a condition to give a statement!"

Mr Frearson, a director at a parcel company, had to spend the night in the cell and was released the next day after the witness was interviewed and withdrew their accusation.

The 47-year-old has made a formal complaint to the Independent Police Complaints Commission about the ordeal saying the police reaction was "massively over-the-top" and the experience was traumatic for his son.

Until four years ago, parents had full rights to use corporal punishment under laws allowing "reasonable chastisement" but since the 2004 Children Act it has only been legal to smack if there is no injury, which can be as slight as a bruise or "psychological harm".

But of course the "psychological harm" that can result from a child seeing his innocent father arrested and then he himself taken away by the police just doesn't count - not to the police or to their "specialist child support officer" - not as long as the police can get another tick on their target sheets!

Mr Frearson, from Plymouth, Devon, said: "I find it shocking how easy it is to have someone arrested. To think that all this happened on the back of one allegation."

But in his document Sir David writes: ‘Recorded crime statistics do indicate that despite recent falls, the levels of the most serious violence are higher than they were ten years ago.’

Shadow Home Secretary Dominic Grieve said last night: Jacqui Smith’s claim that violent crime is down has been dealt a fatal blow.’

A Home Office spokeswoman said: ‘The most recent statistics show that recorded crime has fallen by six per cent in the last year. The chance of being a victim of crime is at its lowest level ever.

‘But we know there is more work to do with particular crime types, and in particular areas. Reducing serious violence will always be a priority.’

The Italian parliament is considering the legalisation of vigilante groups as part of a further crackdown on law and order.

Unauthorised patrols of several northern Italian cities have been underway for the last year and authorities have turned a blind eye to them as concerned locals fight back against rising crime rates.

Under the proposals by the anti-immigration Northern League, the vigilante patrols would have the backing of the local police. The plan is now to be considered by the Italian Upper House.

Another controversial proposal by the Northern League the introduction of a referendum before a mosque or other place of worship is built.

The League is part of centre right Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi's coalition. Mr Berlusconi was elected on a tough law and order campaign.

Northern League MP Mario Borghezio said: "Thanks to the initiatives of the Northern League these ronde (vigilante) patrols will soon be working with the forces of law and order.

"Now all honest citizens will no longer feel that they have to hand over the areas where they live to criminals, drug dealers and prostitutes. It's a very proud day."

But it seems not everyone appreciates the efforts of Jan Hinton and teenager Charlotte Warren-Sinclaire in raising hundreds of pounds for the Royal British Legion.

They claim police ordered them to stop their door-to-door collection and accused them of being "bogus callers", and even though they showed their official documents they were still ordered to leave because a member of the public had complained.

"I thought I was hearing it wrong. Who do they think they are claiming they have the authority to make that decision"?

"They wouldn't be here today if it wasn't for my father and all the other people who fought in the war. They ought to be ashamed."

Senior police chiefs claim the operation will rapidly improve police reaction times and hasten the speed of criminal investigations.

A promising boxer who killed a man who was trying to stop an argument, has been jailed for just two-and-a-half years.

Fatar Hamrah, 22, knocked peacemaker Mohammed Algouri to the ground with a single punch after he was accused of pinching a woman's bottom.

Algouri, also 22, cracked his head on the pavement and died of a brain haemorrhage two days later in hospital.

Hamrah, an Afghan refugee with British citizenship, was arrested at the scene but fled the country after being released on police bail in March 2006.

It took two years to trace him as he travelled through Holland, the United Arab Emirates, Afghanistan and finally America.

Hamrah was extradited from Los Angeles in May this year and after a trial at the Old Bailey was convicted of manslaughter by a majority of 11-1.

But he could be released in only four months because he has already served 334 days in prison awaiting trial.

But in July, Lord Phillips, who has since retired as Lord Chief Justice, said sharia principles could be the basis for resolving family and business disputes.

The draft rules issued by the Association of Chief Police Officers urge frontline officers to turn a blind eye to men and women who meet up for so-called 'dogging' sessions - exhibitionist outdoor sex and voyeurism - and only to prosecute men who have sex in public toilets as a last resort, for fear of having an 'extreme impact' on offenders' lives.

In the report DCC Cunningham writes that current policing methods 'have adversely affected the relationship between the police service and communities'.

People who indulge in dogging or cottaging face arrest for offences including outraging public decency, voyeurism and exposure under the Sexual Offences Act 2003.

But where isolated complaints are made officers are told, 'it may be decided that they should take no action', and even where there are persistent problems they should 'inform and dissuade' users of the site, before arranging for extra lighting or CCTV cameras to be installed.

So DCC Cunningham and ACPO think that "current policing methods 'have adversely affected the relationship between the police service and communities'"?

And when the police refuse to come out to a crime, or turn a blind eye to criminals, or worse still, arrest decent honest people who are just trying to protect themselves against thugs, does this not also "adversely affected the relationship between the police service and communities'?

And what does he mean "ignore such encounters unless enough members of the public complain."

What does he mean by "enough"?

Four men have been banned from wearing hooded tops and baseball caps in a Devon town as part of an Asbo.

The three 18-year-olds and a 19-year-old, are alleged to have been responsible for terrorising their neighbourhood in Torquay for months.

It is thought to be the first time in the South West hooded tops have been specifically banned as part of an Asbo.

After a disgreement over his work appraisal, the detective accused five senior officers at Greater Manchester Police (GMP) of racial discrimination.

A full investigation in his claims was launched by the neighbouring West Yorkshire Police but his complaint was later found to be unsubstantiated.

But senior officers then launched a two-year inquiry into the behaviour of the detective which ended in a tribunal last week.

Following the hearing he was found guilty of wearing the robe, arguing with a senior officer over the force policy on neck ties, disputing his appraisal in an unprofessional way and appearing to look disinterested during briefings.

The panel found the incidents represented a 'continuing course of conduct' and that over a long period of time his 'behaviour was unacceptable'. But the panel ruled he should not face any disciplinary action.

And that verdict says all there is to say about the continuing decline in professional standards of police officers.

It also says a great deal about the inability of the police force to effectively discipline ANYONE regardless of their offence thanks to the Race Relations Act and the Human Rights Act.

Andrew Carpenter was thrown into police cells for three days - for an alleged offence committed by a man with the same name.

Andrew was detained for an offence in Boston, Lincolnshire, despite never having been to the county.

He was held on remand for three days until he was transported 160 miles to appear before magistrates in Lincoln.

When he arrived court officials spotted the mistake and he was released without charge.

Andrew Carpenter was arrested in Maidenhead on Friday afternoon, after officers spoke to him and found his name on the police database.

Their records revealed an offence had allegedly been committed by an Andrew Carpenter from Boston in November 20 last year, relating to a failure to supply information after a Ford Transit van was caught speeding.

The police did not have a date of birth for their suspect, but arrested the innocent Mr Carpenter anyway.

Mr Carpenter told the court he was now hoping to take legal action following his arrest.

After a three-month wait he was convicted and given an absolute discharge, leaving him with a criminal record.

And he was stunned when chairman of the bench Tony Pomeroy told him to 'just walk away' next time.

Mr Toth said: 'Am I supposed to just walk away when some yob screams such awful things at my wife? No way.

Mr Toth lost his job as a carer and has been unable to find work since.

So that is what the legal system in this country has finally descended to - criminalising a decent man protecting his wife from a yob!

I'm very lucky as i live in Dorset, a very quiet part of Dorset.

Dont get me wrong, we have our fair share of trouble but nothing like the rest of the UK seems to be suffering, and for that i am very grateful.

The fear of crime is all around us nonetheless, what with the druggies and the kids unable to hold their drink.

I just wish that Gordy McBroon and his rabble would have the balls to do SOMETHING about the way the yobs seem to be ruling the streets.

Life in prison should mean exactly that, LIFE!

We need to adopt the American penal system, that seems to work just fine.

Throw away all the `Yuman Rights` and send them out in chain gangs to work.

Why should the criminals be given play-stations, Xboxes etc.

They have more than my children have and I'm an honest, hard working single mum since the death of my partner in 2004.

Police were criticised today over the actions of a call handler who failed to send help to a father-of-seven who rang shortly before being murdered.

Mohammed Shafiq, 50, called a non-emergency line to say his teenage son was surrounded by a rival gang who were threatening to attack him, but the operator refused to dispatch officers to the scene.

Yesterday, on the fifth day of his trial, Mohammed Bilal Bhatti, the 21-year-old who wielded what the court heard was "a Rambo-style knife," changed his plea to one of guilty to murder.

Two other youths - one of whom had at the time been out on bail for an attack on Mr Shafiq's son - admitted violent disorder over the incident. All three had been charged with murder.

Afterwards a damning report was released into the handling of Mr Shafiq's initial call to Lancashire Police.

It said that the unnamed civilian female operator had 'missed key information because she was speaking over Mr Shafiq' and had therefore failed to recognise the seriousness of the situation.

The report found she had made a mistake in not dispatching officers to the scene.

But what's the betting no one will ever lose their job over this!

And naturally one of Shafiq's murderers was out on bail - a typical scenario these days!

In the last TEN YEARS only 13 police officers have been sacked because they are bad at their jobs!

The statistics, uncovered by the Liberal Democrats, exposed the unwillingness of forces to dismiss lazy or incompetent officers.

Only 13 officers out of the 43,000 working for the 18 forces who replied to freedom of information requests had been dismissed as a result of the "incapability procedure", which allows police chiefs to weed out under-performing staff.

Six were dismissed in Essex, three in Wiltshire, two in Northamptonshire, and one each in Thames Valley and West Mercia.

What a wonderful record for the police!

So it doesn't matter what you do, sacking is not an option!

No wonder the police couldn't care less whether they turn up to investigate a crime, after all why bother when you can't get sacked?

A running battle between black and Asian youths - a sickening example of brutal Britain today - was captured by a photographer who had been waiting in the street to take a photo of the actress Julie Christie, who lives nearby.

In one picture, youths wielding sticks and spades attack each other and in another, a youth wearing a hoodie and a baseball cap uses a screwdriver in a stabbing motion.

Some of the gang members wore masks as they charged down the street waving sticks and other assorted weapons - one even brandishing a Wellington boot as a makeshift weapon.

The fracas lasted around 20 minutes and involved at least ten gang members.

It is understood to have flared after an Asian man accused several youths of vandalising his property.

The number of crimes committed by serial offenders who have just left prison or begun a community punishment has leapt to more than half a million a year, latest figures show.

Ministry of Justice data shows almost four out of 10 are convicted of a fresh crime within 12 months - equivalent to 155,000 criminals a year - not including the fast-growing numbers being let off by police with a caution or on-the-spot fine instead of being charged.

The proportion of juvenile criminals who are reconvicted rose year-on-year, and the Government has missed its target of cutting numbers by five per cent from 2000 to 2006.

The disturbing figures, exposing the full extent of so-called 'revolving door' justice, emerged as one of Britain's most senior police officers warned that Labour policies had gravely undermined confidence in the criminal justice system, both among the public and police themselves.

The real picture is far worse as many crimes go undetected, and the Ministry of Justice figures do not include criminals let off with a caution or instant fine or formal warning, or court cases which are not yet completed.

Mike Fuller, chief constable of Kent Police claims dangerous criminals are avoiding jail or being released early from prison due to a chronic shortage of prison places.

He claims the crisis was entirely foreseeable: five years ago, ministers ordered police to bring more offenders to justice, but failed to think through the consequences.

He also said forces are over-inspected, with hours of his time each week wasted answering to 13 official national bodies, which sometimes gave contradictory advice and uncosted recommendations.

Fuller said: "Sentencing policy would appear to be determined more by the number of prison places rather than the seriousness of the crimes people have committed. That means recidivist offenders are being released from prison when they should not be."

According to the force, a burglar with 100 previous offences received a suspended sentence and then committed another one.

A female police firearms officer left a gun in a coffee shop where it was discovered by a member of the public, Scotland Yard said today.

The pistol was reportedly left in the toilets of a central London branch of Starbucks by a police bodyguard who was once Tony Blair's close protection officer.

The gun, a semi-automatic Glock 17, was left on the floor of the café's only toilet for 20 minutes.

The gun belonged to a high-flying female officer in her 30s.

She took off the belt holding the firearm when she used the toilet and then bought a coffee, forgetting she had left the gun behind.

"This has come as a shock. The officer is inconsolable and seriously regrets her mistake."

The source added: 'Everyone is fond of her.

A Crime Mapping Website which shows Londoners crime figures for their neighbourhood was launched today by Boris Johnson and Scotland Yard.

The website provides a set of interactive maps, showing numbers and rates of crime and comparisons with the London average.

It allows visitors to report offences and contains links to other sites including Safer Neighbourhoods Team pages.

The crimes recorded involve cars, burglary and robbery but further categories including anti-social behaviour will be added.

The Mayor said: 'Crime mapping was one of my major manifesto commitments and an important part of our strategy to tackle the number one issue for Londoners, crime and safety.

'This is a major step forward in enabling Londoners to really be able to assess the work of their local police in tackling the crimes that affect their neighbourhood.'

Areas fall into one of five classifications: low-crime, below average, average, above average and high.

A furious row between a police sergeant and his own force broke out on Monday after Police Sergeant Roy Jennings discovered that yobs who hurled a stone through his car window escaped prosecution.

Underage drinkers are being arrested by police using laws brought in to combat organised crime, terrorism and identity theft, it has emerged.

Thirty teenagers using fake, borrowed or stolen ID to get into pubs are being targeted using the Identity Card Act. Offenders can be jailed for up to ten years.

"The Act was brought out for terrorism but it suits us very nicely," said Insp Neil Mutch of South Yorkshire Police.

Insp Mutch said something had to be done to tackle frequent use of false ID.

The Home Office backed the move, saying a "robust and secure way" to check identities was necessary.

So a "robust and secure way" to check identities is to use an act which New Labour specifically said was only to be used against terrorists!

A fourth man has been charged with a terror offences following a investigation into an alleged threat to kill Prime Minister Gordon Brown, police said.

Muhammad Ali Mumtaz Ahmad,is jointly charged with brothers Abbas and Ilyas Iqbal.

Ilyas Iqbal, 21, is accused of owning terrorist material and conducting research into terror.

Barry Hoar, 56, the principal of £3,750-a-term Barfield School in Surrey, bought a string of luxury cars including a Bentley, an E-type Jaguar and a Lotus - ostensibly to teach car maintenance to pupils.

But the school said there was no evidence that the youngsters ever worked on them. Instead, Hoar used the vehicles and pocketed the cash when he sold them.

Judge Peter Moss told Hoar: "You have been living a lie in relation to your position in the school.

Two more knife deaths!
Two teenage boys were stabbed to death in a weekend of bloodshed which also left a teenage girl in hospital with knife wounds.

A 15-year-old boy has been charged with the murder of teenager Luke Howard, who was stabbed to death following an argument at a party in Liverpool.

Luke, known by his friends as 'Howie', died in a pool of blood after suffering a single stab wound to the chest at a terraced house following the clash over the weekend.

Meanwhile in London, a 14-year-old boy was stabbed to death and his teenage sister injured after they were attacked by a group of youths outside their home.

A judge has admitted that he is too scared to walk the streets at night because of alcohol-related violence.

Judge Jeremy Carey called for action against pubs and clubs that sell cheap alcohol, claiming they were fuelling 'grisly' knife crime.

His comments came as Daniel Beresford, 23, was found not guilty of stabbing Andreas Fantousi in Folkestone, Kent, on December 13 last year.

Maidstone Crown Court was told how the defendant had binged on super-strength Stella lager, whisky and Sambuca 'at cheap rates which encouraged him to get blind drunk'.

Addressing the jury, Judge Carey said: 'This case is an absolute model of all the grisly things we read about and see day after day after day.

"It is the reason why you and I are fearful of being on the streets late at night."

But it is not JUST the reason why even MPs are now scared to walk the streets at night.

Thugs know that no matter what they do any penalties they get will be laughable!

Even murder no longer brings an automatic life sentence - in some cases less than 12 months will be spent in jail!

The penalties for carrying a knife are laughable - in a recent investigation only 30 children out of 1,164 caught with a knife last year ended up in prison!

Add to that years of "soft" justice with every social worker and do-gooder coming up with every excuse under the sun to make sure that thugs who are guilty of virtually any crime including murder, muggings, rape and assault are given a caution and never see the inside of a jail!

And children who learn at an early age that they are virtually "untouchable" thanks to the "liberalistas" - and it is no wonder that a senior judge is afraid to walk the streets at night!

But of course, as MPs have already shown, when they go out at night they are protected by their own publicly funded bodyguards to protect them from the results of their own legislation!

A brave grandfather is fighting for his life after he was repeatedly run over by burglars who targeted his home.

Barry and Pauline Granger
Barry Granger, 62, was knocked down as he tried to grab keys from the robbers' getaway car. The two thugs then drove over his body several times before escaping.

Mr Granger, who recently had a triple heart bypass operation, was this morning said to be in a critical condition in hospital.

Amazingly, it is the third time the Grangers have fallen victim to violent crime.

They were first burgled in 1991, then, in September 1995, they endured a terrifying experience when they were bound and had chemicals sprayed into their eyes after raiders had smashed their way in.

After the attack in 1995, Mrs Granger said she was terrified of a repeat ordeal because Aston's accomplice was never caught.

Although police are studying the background to the previous raids, they say at this stage there are no strong links with the latest burglary.

So not only content with burgling someone's property these scum deliberately tried to murder him!

A man who stole property from train passengers at London railway stations has been banned from coming within the M25 for two years.

Peter Abbott, 46, would get on to a train, grab belongings stowed in an overhead rack and then leave the train before it departed, Southwark Crown Court heard.

He was arrested after a coat and a wallet containing £685 were stolen from a passenger

The court heard that Abbott was a prolific offender with 44 previous convictions and a drug problem.

Recorder Deborah Champion gave him a six-month sentence, suspended for two years. She also banned him from coming within the M25 during those two years.

"That will prevent you from coming to London stations to steal," she said.

Yeah right!

A prolific offender with 44 previous convictions and a drug problem gets off with a supended sentence - yet anyone putting a piece of paper in the wrong bin faces up to a £110 fine!

A British woman has been raped by a gang of asylum seekers in Calais, it has been alleged.

Magistrates and youth court sittings are being cancelled because the rise in on-the-spot fines means there are too few criminals facing formal proceedings.

Courts in the Midlands are cutting the number of hours they sit each week because of their 'reducing workload', as more and more offenders are issued with a caution or fixed penalty notices and fines.

Critics have warned that criminals who would once have faced a court appearance are benefiting from 'soft justice'.

They say the centuries-old role of magistrates in Britain's justice system is being gravely undermined.

Labour introduced the penalty notice for disorder to deal with low-level yobbery, but has since expanded the use of the punishments to include offences such as shoplifting up to a value of £200 and criminal damage up to £500

The Government insists that dealing with 'low-level' offenders frees up the police and courts to focus on more serious criminals.

And of course, it also allows the government to claim that "crime is down"!

No mention of the fact that a large number of these on the spot fines remain unpaid!

So much for "Tough on crime, tough on the causes of crime"!

A badged army of wardens are using police powers - and in some cases dogs - to patrol the streets of Britain.

As well as town hall workers, dozens of private firms - including security companies - have been given permission to hand out fines for low-scale offences and demand personal details.

One example is Parkguard, a firm which normally offers to patrol parks, open spaces and housing estates.

After securing special accreditation, it now boasts of the new powers it can use while working in Hertfordshire and Essex.

These include issuing fixed penalty notices, dealing with anti-social behaviour and confiscating alcohol and tobacco.

To help with its work, the firm uses dogs to deter drug dealers and troublemakers as well as engage with youths.

On its website, Parkguard boasts about being part of the 'extended policing family', adding: 'We have a number of police powers, not normally available outside of the police service.'

Dogs are used in many of the firm's projects.

Accredited staff are now able to confiscate alcohol, tobacco, fireworks and knives from minors - tasks that were once solely the responsibility of local police.

And what happens if they come up against a group of thugs armed with knives?

Or the thugs just laugh at them and refuse to pay a fine?

Or just give a false name?

What will they do - Just phone the police?

A police community support officer has been suspended after colleagues accused him of goose-stepping about at work and making Nazi salutes.

PCSO Paul Ryan has been ordered to stay at home after allegedly impersonating Adolf Hitler while on duty.

The claims are now being investigated by the Metropolitan Police.

Ryan is alleged to have begun goose-stepping and making Nazi salutes in the North London office of the Swiss Cottage Safer Neighbourhoods Team during a conversation about Germans last month, Met sources said.

The controversial volunteer officer was previously removed from the Kentish Town team for suggesting to a black colleague that there was nothing wrong in voting for the far-Right British National Party, it is understood.

The Community Security Trust, a charity guarding against anti-semitism in the UK, said the Met had been right to act.

Schizophrenic stranger stabbed father 82 times!
A father of three was hacked to death by schizophrenic Benjamin Frankum, who was a complete stranger, while his children slept just yards away, a jury heard today.

Daniel Quelch was stabbed more than 80 times and a serrated knife was used to cut his throat in a bloodbath killing which happened as he slept.

A jury heard how Frankum - who was earlier declared unfit to enter a plea due to his mental condition - got into Mr Quelch's mother's bungalow in Maidenhead, Berkshire, at approximately 7am on August 23 last year.

The court heard that Mr Quelch was asleep with his two-year-old son Charlie by his side when Frankum began the attack.

The prosecutor told the jury that Frankum received cuts to his hands as the blood-soaked knife had slipped as he repeatedly stabbed the victim.

The court also heard how Frankum was supposed to be staying in shared semi-independent housing in Littlehampton, West Sussex, where care workers were supposed to hand him medication.

However it was up to Frankum to take the drugs himself and he went missing on August 20.

Tests taken after his arrest showed that none of the prescribed drugs to control his paranoid schizophrenia were in his system - showing that he had not taken his medication that day.

"The court also heard how Frankum was supposed to be staying in shared semi-independent housing in Littlehampton, West Sussex, where care workers were supposed to hand him medication.

However it was up to Frankum to take the drugs himself and he went missing on August 20."

A probe has been launched after more than 100 'restricted' statements from police officers and forensic experts were discovered lying in a giant bin at a recycling centre.

They reveal personal details about suspects and witnesses linked to Operation Montrose, run by Merseyside Police from 2004, which led to 59 drug traffickers being locked up for a combined 340 years.

David Thomas suffered serious head injuries and needed staples inserted into his scalp after he was attacked by thugs at his front gate.

The 41-year-old service engineer was working on his computer when he saw a youth dropping chips at the front of his house and asked him to stop.

'They started to threaten me saying they knew where I lived and would be back,' he said.

Five minutes later a group of teenagers gathered outside Mr Thomas' house, so he went out to ask them to move on and was attacked from behind.

A couple who dialled 999 to report a burglary were stunned when police replied an hour later with a text message asking them to investigate the raid.

Lloyd and Suzanne Bishop phoned the police at 5am after spotting a burglar smash a padlock at a neighbouring shed and escape over a fence.

But instead of dispatching officers to investigate, police sent a text at 6am asking them to establish what had been been stolen.

Mrs Bishop, 29, from Cambridge, said the couple were astonished by the response from Cambridgeshire Constabulary.

'We were totally gobsmacked and disgusted that this text was sent out an hour later to us.

'To text the person who calls and ask them to investigate what had been stolen, broken into and who did it is just incredible.'

'It just gives burglars the idea that they can get away with it because the police aren't going to send anyone out.

Which is exactly what a large number of our members have also found out and the reason why they have joined US!

A council publishing 'Wanted' photographs of alleged litterbugs insisted today that it has a legal right to identify suspects - even if they are eventually cleared.

As town halls face a growing revolt over their new powers to issue on-the-spot fines and access people's personal data, one authority has already handed out cameras to litter teams who patrol the streets for anyone dropping so much as a matchstick.

The publicity campaign has been launched by Colchester Borough Council who say it has been checked and approved by their lawyers and the police.

Its team of six 'street care officers' will now photograph everyone caught dropping litter in the council's 160-square mile area including Colchester town centre and surrounding villages.

And the council say the photographs will be kept on file indefinitely because people caught may re-offend.

So, while Lambeth Council lets 300 squatters ruin an estate, another council is wasting taxpayers money on these loony schemes to attempt to justify their parasitical existence!

Lambeth Council lets squatters ruin housing estate!
Residents in a street where houses cost more than £1 million each have been besieged by an army of squatters because of a council blunder.

Homeowners on Atkins Road in Clapham told how 300 illegal occupants have taken over a neighbouring block of flats - holding all-night parties, lighting bonfires and playing loud music.

The residents have criticised Lambeth council for failing to secure Limerick Close estate, which they say has been made into a rubbish tip, strewn with broken furniture and beer bottles, and covered in graffiti.

The four blocks of flats, which were being used as temporary accommodation, were due to be returned to a private owner when the lease expired in April.

But the squatters, including around 100 young Polish men, took residence in the 45 flats just before the handover after hearing it was empty by word of mouth.

Lambeth council said it could not return the apartments to the unnamed owners until the premises had been vacated - leaving the council with a rent bill estimated at £40,000 a month.

The total cost to taxpayers, including legal fees and repairing any damage, is likely to be close to £500,000.

Lambeth has won a possession order to evict the squatters but has been warned it could take years to get them out.

Of course the ratepayers of Lambeth will pick up the bill for Lambeth Council's negligence!

Burnley council leader Gordon Birtwistle said courts should “crack down” on knife crime after a man who was discovered carrying a blade for the third time was spared jail.

Dean Mulrooney, 29, of Penistone Street, Burnley, was caught by police in possession of a two-inch lockknife at around 9pm on June 27.

At Burnley Magistrates’ Court this week, jobless Mulrooney admitted possessing a bladed article and was sentenced to a four-month curfew, to be enforced seven days a week between 9pm and 6am.

He claimed he did not know it was an offence to carry a knife, even though he has two previous convictions for the same offence.

An astonishing 468 devices a year - more than one every day - have vanished since 2001.

The revelation cast grave doubts on Labour's claims that it can be trusted with confidential data as it seeks to introduce ID cards.

Critics said it proves ministers behave 'recklessly' with the public's personal details, and called for a massive shake-up in the way electronic data is protected.

They will be able to gather intelligence, help trap road tax cheats and hand out fines to unsuspecting members of the public.

Critics believe it is a recipe for disaster. Vetting runs the risk of being either too lax (with potentially alarming consequences for public safety) or so severe that the scheme does not get off the ground.

Among the 33 police forces who have already accredited snoopers, some have been carrying out no more checks than they would give an external contractor.

Security guards and town hall workers are being armed with sweeping police-style powers, it has emerged.

For a few hundred pounds, state and private sector employees can receive Home Office accreditation.

This allows them to hand out fines for a raft of offences, from dropping litter to riding a bike on the pavement.

They can also stop cars to check their tax discs, seize alcohol from underage drinkers and demand people's names and addresses.

The hope is that they will free up rank-and-file officers from having to perform these unpopular tasks. The uniformed, badged army of snoopers will become a vital part of the 'extended police family', ministers say.

Home Office Minister Vernon Coaker said the accredited workers have a 'critical role to play in neighbourhood policing teams and are a key component of the extended police family'.

It stated: 'It is particularly beneficial to use accredited persons to effectively target those community problems that are deemed unsuitable for the police because police enforcement might be seen to be excessive by the community.'

Well most people do NOT complain about police enforcement being seen to be excessive - precisely the opposite!

The "community" as a whole would WELCOME more police enforcement, especially when they are attacked by yobs and the police turn up hours or even days later - if they bother to turn up at all!

And what will the police do with all the spare time they will enjoy when they are replaced by these town hall "Stasi"?

Jobless drifter Elgizouli stabbed his daughter to death with a seven-and-a-half-inch kitchen knife as the 25-year-old went to arrest him at a flat in Stratford, East London in October 1997.

At the time, Elgizouli was in breach of bail conditions for assaulting a police officer and possessing an offensive weapon, a knife, 11 days earlier.

A Government investigation was launched today after personal details of more than a million bank customers were found on a computer sold on eBay.

Highly sensitive information on American Express, NatWest and Royal Bank of Scotland customers was found on the hard drive of the machine sold for £35.

The Information Commissioner's Office today said it would examine how eBay customer Andrew Chapman came to acquire the names, addresses, mobile phone numbers, bank account numbers, credit card numbers, mothers' maiden names and even signatures of bank customers.

So the government, who cannot keep ANY data secret, and have lost over 3000 laptops with confidential data on them, is to investigate a loss of data?

Politicians are 'leaving black youths to die' by cutting funding to community groups, a Government advisor on gun crime has claimed.

Dr Derrick Campbell said those working with youngsters involved in gun crime had recently had their funding slashed.

He suggested there was an 'acceptance' in Government circles of black-on-black gang murders, with victims are seen as 'just another one that we don't have to worry about.'

And he claimed last year's murder of 11-year-old white schoolboy Rhys Jones last summer received more attention from the Government and the media than similar killings of black youths.

Dr Campbell is chairman of the National Independent Advisory Group on Criminal Use of Firearms which advises the Home Office.

But the Home Office strongly rejected his claims yesterday, insisting it was fully committed to tackling knife and gun crime, and dismissing talk of a 'national conspiracy' to tolerate black-on-black violence.

Watching her 10-year-old son die from an asthma attack in the front garden was horrendous enough and the fact that Claire Humberstone blamed medical negligence for his death made the tragedy even more unbearable.

But then the police decided to add to the pregnant mother's suffering by arresting her on suspicion of manslaughter.

Just 12 days after her son Dante Kamara died, police with dogs turned up in force in riot vans to take the shocked mother-of-four away.

She was held in custody for eight hours at a police station, questioned and had her DNA and fingerprints taken.

A week later she was told by her solicitor she would not be charged.

Today Miss Humberstone, 29, condemned the heavy-handed police tactics as 'disgusting' and insisted she knew of no reason why she could have been suspected of foul play.

Detective Chief Inspector Clive Wain, from South Yorkshire Police, said:'This is a sensitive and tragic case but in the circumstances we would have been neglecting our duty had we not taken the action we did at the time.

'Claire is fully aware of the reasons for her arrest which have been discussed with her and her solicitor. Claire was arrested as a potential suspect but we tried to be as sensitive and tactful as we could.'

So arresting a grieving mother and turning up with dogs and riot vans is "sensitive and tactful" to the South Yorkshire Police"

An investigation has been launched into how a police car hit and killed a mother - amid claims that it was fetching a takeaway with its siren and blue lights on.

The 61-year-old is reported to have been walking with her husband and son when she was struck by the marked police car.

Ambulance crews and an emergency helicopter were scrambled but the woman, named locally as Sandy Simpson, was pronounced dead at the scene.

A police force has launched an internal investigation after classified documents were dumped in a skip outside a police station during refurbishment works, it confirmed today.

The documents, which are classified as either ‘restricted’ or ‘confidential’, came to light after a member of the public made a complaint to Hampshire Constabulary stating that the papers related to him.

The force is now investigating a claim that the documents had been dumped in a skip outside New Milton police station in the New Forest during building works earlier this year.

Rioters fought running street battles with police as the Notting Hill Carnival descended into violence.

A group of 40 thugs threw missiles and bottles at unprotected officers in two-hour running battles last night.

One witness said: 'It was a full-scale riot. Bottles were flying everywhere. Carnival-goers and police officers were bloodied. A policewoman was carried off unconscious.

'Another had a two-inch gash above his eye. He was staggering and supported by two colleagues.

'The mob weren't scared. They were running towards the police who were chanting 'one, two, three' and charging them. It was like a war zone.

'I haven't seen anything like it at the carnival since the early Nineties. It reminded me of the Brixton riots.'

What do the police expect?

A controversial early-release scheme may be extended as jails approach bursting point.

By last Friday night, the number locked up in England and Wales had risen to 83,670 - 50 more than the maximum capacity.

Some are having to be held in police stations or court buildings.

A fresh influx expected from courts following the Bank Holiday weekend threatens to push the jail population beyond the safe legal limit.

Criminals freed 18 days early have gone on to commit hundreds more crimes, including a murder and a rape.

They are also claiming more than £2.6million a year in extra benefits, to compensate for the 18 days they are not housed and fed in jail!!!

This is just totally unbelievable!

Council workers are getting free rides on a private, taxpayer-funded bus service because they are too frightened to walk the streets of their own borough to get home.

Staff in Southwark Council’s regeneration department in South London are ferried to the nearest train station every night after work at a cost of £650 a week, to prevent them having to walk through the notorious Aylesbury Estate and risk being mugged.

The area is part of the constituency of Labour deputy leader Harriet Harman, who caused controversy in April when she walked around nearby Peckham wearing a stab-proof vest.

Having reneged on a pay deal for regular police,Jacqui Smith yesterday announced a dramatic rise in the number of Special Constables - who do not get paid!

At the same time, the Government's commitment to recruit 24,000 Community Support Officers has been dropped.

The move has been seen as a tacit admission that recruitment of CSOs - given the nickname 'plastic police' because they receive less training and have fewer powers than regular officers - has stalled.

Ministers originally wanted to recruit 24,000 Community Support Officers but the target has been quietly dropped with only 16,000 in place.

Labour's enthusiasm for the civilian patrol staff, introduced by former Home Secretary David Blunkett in 2004, has been criticised by rank-and-file police.

The controversy reached a peak last year when two support officers who came across a young boy drowning in a pond in Wigan chose not to enter the water to try to rescue him, instead, they waited until a regular police officer arrived - by which time ten-year- old Jordon Lyon was dead.

Mrs Smith insisted that the increase in Special Constable numbers would not come at the expense of regular police.

But with Labour's relations with the rank and file at rock bottom over the bitter pay dispute, there were accusations of more 'policing on the cheap'.

Special Constables work for a few hours a week with their local force in their own time, but receive only travel and meal expenses.

So once again the government continues to betray not only the public but also the whole police force!

Relying on Specials doesn't adress the real problem which is the lack of police personnel on the streets actively preventing crime.

Instead of paying an agreed pay deal they would rather betray the whole police force and then try to hide the reasults of their own lunatic policies and betrayals by recruiting unpaid "specials"!

This latest betrayal is just another example of the downward spiral of less REAL police on the streets resulting in MORE crime!

AN immigrant banged up in an adult jail because he lied about his age is suing the Home Office for “unlawful detainment”.

Sponger Cherif Beniaiche, 19, hopes to pick up £50,000 in a legal battle funded by the taxpayer.

Three years ago Beniaiche, then 16, sneaked into the UK with an Italian passport which claimed he was 22.

But when he tried to leave the country his fake documents were discovered and he was arrested.

The Algerian national was jailed for two months for forgery and sent to an adult prison because of the age stated on the passport.

He was freed when the Immigration Service discovered the truth.

Beniaiche, whose home in Hayes, West London, is paid for by social services, said: “We’re going to be in the money. They got my age wrong. No one helped me.”
